BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin is a new and improved version of the popular BlueSCSI Desktop v2.

To be used internally with a 50-pin SCSI cable, typically to replace the SCSI hard drive of an older computer.

This model has configurable SCSI termination through a DIP switch, and an LED pin to connect an existing hard drive activity LED.

It also features Initiator Mode, which lets BlueSCSI communicate directly with other SCSI devices, without the need for a host (like a computer). Very useful to create direct copies of existing SCSI hard drives!

Up to 18 MB/sec read speeds (depending on your computer and SD card)

See below what’s new!

We are selling revision 2025_10a of the hardware.

Description

What’s New?

Power

Berg and Molex connectors are available.
Powering the BlueSCSI through the SCSI connector is no longer possible. If this is something you require, the BlueSCSI v2 Desktop is still available.

Networking

By default, BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin doesn’t support networking. You can add WiFi to connect to vintage networks (for Macintosh, Atari ST and Amiga) by adding the BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin Expander Board.

BlueSCSI Ultra Front Panel Compatibility

The BlueSCSI Ultra Front Panel (not yet available) will add a display to your BlueSCSI and several additional features such as:

  • A Web interface for remote configuration (from another computer or your phone)
  • Buttons for changing mounted images, adjusting settings, updating firmware and more

BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin requires the BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin Expander Board to use the BlueSCSI Ultra Front Panel.

Audio Output

BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin supports the BlueSCSI Ultra Audio Board for direct line level CD audio.

DIP Switches for Options

Switches are now used instead of jumpers. The following options are configurable with switches:

  • Debug mode
  • Initiator mode
  • SCSI Termination

Headers remain for Power On, Back Feed and External LED.

Printed Tray

All trays for the BlueSCSI v2 Desktop are compatible with BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin (the dimensions and mounting screw locations are the same).

Default Tray

You may choose the default 3D-printed tray for your BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin. It’s available in Blue, Black and Platinum. If you select a random colour, your tray may be in one of the three colours, but could very well be something a little crazier (orange? green? who knows?).

Custom Trays

You can also select a custom 3D-printed tray designed for specific purposes. If you do so, make sure you select the “No Default Tray” option on this page so you don’t end up with the default tray in addition to your custom tray. The following custom trays are available:

Note: If you’re also purchasing a Macintosh Portable Adapter For BlueSCSI along with your BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin, you will not need one of these trays. The Portable Adapter has its own tray to hold the BlueSCSI Ultra – Narrow 50 Pin. Make sure you select the “No Default Tray” option.

Shipping

We ship from Belgium to all continental European countries, and all countries of the European Union. In nearly all cases, your order will be mailed as a letter, free of custom fees.
